Hon'ble Prime Minister announces new map policy
The Govt of India in Feb 2021 announced radical changes to mapping policy of India. It has announced a new Geospatial policy to unlock altogether new avenues for business, private sector and research institutes to build applications and drive innovation in creation of digital public goods similar to Aadhar, UPI etc.
Start-ups and entrepreneurs in consumers tech / e-commerce sector can build their own maps, decision support systems and approve location based services. Apart from startups, traditional sectors like Agriculture, Defense, Mining, Oil and Gas will benefit tremendously and this will create massive employment opportunities for the country.
"It is a massive step. Our government has taken a decision that will provide a huge impetus to Digital India. Liberalising policies governing the acquisition and production of geospatial data is a massive step in our vision for an Atmanirbhar Bharat".
