1.  How do I register on the Online Maps Portal?
On the Home page of the Online Maps Portal (https://onlinemaps.surveyofindia.gov.in), click Sign In and then select Register Here. Choose the appropriate user category, complete the registration form, submit the required details and documents, and follow the verification process.
2.  What are the different categories of users on the Online Maps Portal?
The Online Maps Portal provides registration under the following categories:
• Government User
• Private User
Users should carefully select the category applicable to them during registration.
3.  What are the requirements for registration as a Government User?
For registration under the Government User category, the following are mandatory:
• A valid Organization Employee ID Card issued by the Government employer.
• An official Government email ID with a government domain.
• Verification and approval by the Head of Department (HoD).
4.  What should I do if my Government organization's email domain is not recognized as a Government domain on the Online Maps Portal?
If your organization is a Government organization but its email domain is not recognized on the Online Maps Portal, you may request domain whitelisting by emailing mtr.soi@gov.in.
Submit the following documents along with the request:
1. A letter from the Head of Department (HoD) on official letterhead, addressed to The Director, NGDR & UGI Directorate, Survey of India, Dehradun, requesting whitelisting of the organization's email domain.
2. A duly filled and signed PDF copy of the "Self Certification of Entities" form downloaded from the National Geospatial Services Portal (https://geospatial.dst.gov.in), certified by the HoD.
The domain will be added to the recognized Government email domain list after verification and approval.
5.  What products are available on the Online Maps Portal?
The following Survey of India products are available for download through the Online Maps Portal:
• Topographical Map Full Sheet (SHAPEFILE and GEODATABASE)
• Geo-referenced Colour Raster Map (TIFF)
• Open Series Maps (PDF – Free)
• Digital Terrain Model (DTM) (IMG and TIFF)
• Administrative Boundary Database (SHAPEFILE)
• Village Boundary Database (SHAPEFILE and GEODATABASE)
• Digital Vector Database (SHAPEFILE)
• Digital Geographical Maps (SHAPEFILE)
• Survey of India Project Data (PDF and GEODATABASE)
• Geodetic Products and Services
• Other Maps (PDF – Free)

6.  Which products are available free of cost?
• All products available on the Online Maps Portal are provided free of cost to registered Government Users.
• Open Series Maps (PDF), Administrative Boundary, Village Boundary, and other free PDF maps are available free of cost to all users (Government as well as Private users). Paid products are available to Private users upon payment of the applicable charges refer (pricing policy).
• Access to products is subject to the user’s registration category and applicable policies.
7.  Is there any easy way to download data products directly without registration or login?
Yes. A few datasets are available for direct download without registration or login for the convenience of users. These include:
• Administrative Boundary Database
• Political Maps of India (PDF)
• State Maps (PDF)

To download these datasets:
1. Go to the Home Page of the Online Maps Portal.
2. Navigate to Quick Access.
3. Select the desired dataset category.
4. Choose the required map from the catalogue.
5. Click Download.
No registration or login is required for datasets available under Quick Access.
8.  I am not receiving an OTP during registration or login.
If you do not receive the OTP within 1 minute, click the Resend OTP button. If you still do not receive the OTP, please wait for some time and try again.
9.  I forgot my User ID.
Your registered mobile number serves as your User ID. Additionally, after registration, the User ID and default password are sent to your registered email address and mobile number. Please check your inbox, SMS messages, or registered contact details for this information.
10.  I forgot my password.
You can reset your password using the “Forgot Password” option available on the Online Maps Portal.
11.  I am unable to log in and the portal displays “Invalid Password”.
You can reset your password using the “Forgot Password” option on the Online Maps Portal. A system-generated password will be sent to your registered mobile number.
12.  portal shows that my mobile number is already registered.
This indicates that an account has already been created using the entered mobile number on the Online Maps Portal. You may continue to use and update your existing user profile. Alternatively, if you have another mobile number, you may register a new account using that number.
13.  How do I purchase map products on the Online Maps Portal?
Log in to the Online Maps Portal using your registered credentials. Search for the required map product through the catalogue or search options, review the product details, and add the selected item to your cart. Proceed to checkout, verify the order details, and complete the payment using the available online payment methods. Once the payment is successfully processed, log in to your profile, go to Cart, and download the product.
14.  Can I purchase Survey of India map products through online payment using a credit card?
Yes. Users can place online orders and make payments through the Online Maps Portal, which redirects them to the Bharatkosh Payment Gateway. Users may choose any of the payment options available on the Bharatkosh Payment Gateway, the Government of India’s centralized payment mechanism.
15.  My payment was deducted, but the order status is showing “Pending” or “Failed”.
Payment confirmation from the payment gateway may take some time. Please check the order status after some time. If the issue persists, contact the support team with your Order ID and transaction details.
16.  How do I check my payment status or download the payment receipt?
To view the payment status and download the receipt:

1. Log in to the portal.
2. Go to the “My Orders” section.
3. Select the relevant order.
4. View the payment status.
5. Click the “Download Receipt” icon to download the payment receipt.
17.  Can I cancel an order or claim a refund after making the payment?
No. Once payment has been successfully completed and the order has been processed, cancellation and refund are not permitted. Users are advised to verify product details carefully before making payment.
18.  Can I preview the Digital Vector Data before purchasing it?
Currently, there is no provision to preview the Digital Vector Data or download sample data before purchase.
However, users may refer to the corresponding Open Series Map (PDF) for Topographic maps, wherever available, for the same sheet to get a general idea of the map content and geographic coverage.

Disclaimer:-
The content, feature availability, level of detail, and data epoch of the PDF map may differ from those of the Digital Vector Data. Therefore, the PDF should be used only as a broad reference and not as an exact representation of the vector dataset.
19.  How do I download purchased products?
After successful payment, log in to the portal and navigate to the “My Orders” section. Select the relevant order and click the Download button to download the product.
20.  What file formats are available for download?
Depending on the selected product, data may be available in formats such as PDF, TIFF, SHP, GDB, IMG, and other formats specified in the product description.
21.  How can I contact the Online Maps Portal support team?
For assistance, users may contact the support team through the official email ID mtr[dot]soi[at]gov[dot]in. While reporting an issue, please provide your User ID, Order ID, screenshots, and error details, if available.
22.  How can I view my previous orders?
Users can view all previous orders and related details through the “My Orders” section after logging in.
23.  The downloaded file is not opening properly. What should I do?
Ensure that you are using compatible software to open the file. If required, download the file again.
24.  The Online Maps Portal is not working?.
There may be a temporary technical issue affecting the portal. Please try again after some time. If the issue persists for longer period after repeated efforts, report it to mtr[dot]soi[at]gov[dot]in.
